How to Follow Jesus When Life Gets Hard

Life is complicated. Relationships are messy. And following Jesus when things feel unfair or painful? That can feel impossible.

In this week’s sermon from 1 Peter 2:18–3:12, Pastor Jared Reiter explores what it looks like to live like Jesus when life isn’t easy. Whether it's conflict at work, tension at home, or pain from your past—Peter’s letter reminds us of something powerful: When we follow the way of the cross, even in hardship, we reflect the heart of Christ.

This message challenges the idea that faith is only for the good days. Instead, it invites us to embody the love, humility, and strength of Jesus in the real, raw moments of life—especially when others are watching.

We also took time to acknowledge the pain some have experienced through church hurt and offered a vision of what the church can be: a family of peace, harmony, and love. A place for healing.

If you’re looking for a church near you in Sacramento where honesty, healing, and biblical teaching come together—we’d love to meet you at Friends Church.
