Overcoming Rejection
When Life Doesn’t Go as Planned—Joseph’s Story of Faith
We’ve all had moments when life takes an unexpected turn. Maybe a dream falls apart, relationships fracture, or circumstances leave us wondering if God is still at work. If you’ve ever felt forgotten or sidelined, Joseph’s story in Genesis is one you need to hear.
Joseph was favored by his father but rejected by his brothers. He had God-given dreams of leadership, yet he found himself betrayed, sold into slavery, and later imprisoned. From the outside, it looked like everything had gone wrong. But God was orchestrating something greater.
Joseph’s journey teaches us three powerful truths:
God’s plan doesn’t always look like we expect. Joseph’s path to leadership wasn’t through comfort but through hardship. Yet even in the lowest moments, God’s presence never left him.
Rejection isn’t the end of your story. When people turn their backs on you, it doesn’t mean God has. He can use rejection to position you for something greater.
Faithfulness in the pit leads to fruitfulness in the palace. Joseph remained faithful in every season—whether in slavery, prison, or Pharaoh’s court. His integrity prepared him for the blessing to come.
Maybe you feel like Joseph today—forgotten, stuck, or struggling to see God’s hand. But just as God was working behind the scenes in Joseph’s life, He is doing the same in yours.
Join us this Sunday as we continue our series on Joseph’s life and discover how God brings purpose from our pain.
