The Gifts We Need Most: Hope | Friends Church Sacramento
Christmas is one of the busiest seasons of the year. Schedules fill up, lists get long, and the pace of life speeds up quickly. In all the noise, it’s easy to miss the very things our souls need most.
That’s why Advent has always served the church as a season of slowing down, watching, and preparing our hearts for Jesus.
This year at Friends Church Sacramento, we’re focusing on a series called The Gifts We Need Most — Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. These are the gifts that don’t break, don’t fade, and don’t get replaced next year. They’re the gifts God gives freely and generously.
To help families walk through Advent together, we created a free downloadable Advent Family Devotional — a simple, meaningful, four-week guide designed for busy families of all ages.
Each week includes:
A short Scripture reading
A simple, kid-friendly activity
A discussion question for the family
A prayer for the week
A practical way to live out Hope, Peace, Joy, or Love
Our goal is to provide something doable, not overwhelming — something that helps families experience the heart of Christmas without adding more stress.
Week 1: Hope
In a culture overwhelmed by anxiety, uncertainty, and fear about the future, biblical hope is more than wishful thinking. It’s a confident expectation that God is present, working, and faithful to His promises.
We want every person — and especially every child — to grow up knowing that the world may shake, but God’s hope remains unshakeable.
