What Feels Like Coincidence May Be God’s Plan All Along | Ruth: Finding God in the Ordinary
Most of us say we believe God is in control—but we live like everything depends on us. We trust that God is sovereign until He actually takes control.
In Ruth chapter 2, we meet Ruth and Boaz, two ordinary people whose faithfulness intersects at just the right time. Ruth “just so happens” to glean in Boaz’s field. Boaz “just so happens” to arrive that same day. Coincidence? Not at all. It’s God’s providence at work through simple, everyday obedience.
This story reminds us that:
God’s plans often unfold quietly through ordinary faithfulness.
Good character is hard to live, easy to see, and always honored by God.
Redemption often comes not through miracles, but through moments of steady trust.
When we stop trying to control every outcome and start trusting that God is guiding even the smallest details, we begin to see His hand everywhere.
Maybe you’re in a season where you can’t see what’s next. Maybe your story feels uncertain or incomplete. The book of Ruth reminds us that God is still writing. And what feels like coincidence may just be His plan all along.
