Presence Over Performance | It’s Good to Share
In Luke 10:38–42, we meet two sisters: Martha, distracted by many preparations, and Mary, who sits at Jesus’ feet. While Martha’s service was well-intentioned, Jesus gently reminds her that Mary has chosen the “better part” — His presence.
This story challenges us to consider: Are we more focused on doing things for Jesus or being with Jesus?
In a world that prizes busyness, performance, and perfection, Jesus invites us to slow down and simply rest in Him. True hospitality and true ministry flow not from frantic effort, but from the overflow of time in His presence.
At Friends Church Sacramento, we are learning together how to practice this way of living — opening our lives to our neighbors, living missionally, and becoming a Christ-centered community that reflects His love.
