How to Share Your Faith Without Fear | Rooted
If you’ve ever felt nervous, unsure, or even overwhelmed when a conversation about faith comes up—you’re not alone.
Many people believe the message of Jesus is good news, but when the moment comes to share it, fear takes over. What do I say? What if I say the wrong thing? What if I push someone away?
In Matthew 5:13–16, Jesus gives a powerful and practical picture of what it looks like to live out your faith in everyday life. He calls His followers the salt of the earth and the light of the world—two images that show us that sharing our faith isn’t about pressure or perfection, but about presence and faithfulness.
1. Your Life Should Make People Thirsty for God
Jesus describes His followers as salt—something that preserves, enhances, and creates thirst. When we live in step with God’s kingdom, our lives begin to reflect hope, peace, and purpose in a way that others notice.
People are more spiritually curious than we often assume. In a world filled with anxiety, pressure, and uncertainty, many are quietly wondering if there is more to life. As followers of Jesus, we have the opportunity to live in a way that points others toward that “more.”
2. Your Life Shows the Gospel—Your Words Explain It
Jesus also calls us the light of the world. Light is meant to be seen. When we live differently—loving others, serving selflessly, and walking in integrity—people begin to notice.
But eventually, curiosity leads to conversation.
That’s where many people feel stuck.
A simple way to share your faith is through your story:
What was your life like before Jesus?
How did you come to know Him?
What has changed since?
You don’t need to have all the answers. Your story is powerful because it’s real.
3. We Share Our Faith to Glorify God, Not Ourselves
Jesus makes it clear that the goal isn’t to impress others or win arguments—it’s to point people to God.
In 1 Corinthians 3:6–7, Paul reminds us:
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.”
Our role is not to change hearts—that’s God’s job. Our role is to be faithful, to share when opportunities come, and to trust the Holy Spirit to do the rest.
A Simple Challenge This Week
If you’re wondering where to start, keep it simple:
Pray for one person
Invite one person
Be ready to share your story
You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to have all the answers.
You just have to be faithful.
Because the good news is too good to keep to yourself.
